Brief details

For this project, I have decided I would develop an animation around an audio clip labelled ‘The future we choose’. My animation will be 30 seconds based on the last 30 seconds of the audio clip because I believe that is the most informative part. In the audio clip. To give more context on the nature of the final piece, the narrator describes how working to reduce climate change is not for the personal gain of a specific group of people, but for the benefit of every living being on this planet.
Stop motion

During the process of looking into different animation techniques, I experimented with stop motion. For this stop motion animation, I worked with a group of peers to create a short clip. I started with a short story board as a sort of guide to lay out each scene.
Initial storyboard
Rotoscoping (frame by frame animation)

Another animation style I experimented with during my initial research and work development is rotoscoping, also known as frame-by-frame animation. I used adobe photoshop for this animation experiment.
Animatic

The animatic depict some of the more important scenes that carry most of the narrative. There is a lot of line drawing for this work but in the final animation, the art style will be mostly moving vector shapes.
Motion design

The purpose of this work is to test my skills in creating animation with smooth and realistic movements. By using key points on certain features of the shape and at specific moments in the timeline, I was able to animate the shape in a spinning motion while bouncing closer towards the camera.
Line boil

For this experimentation in line boil animation, I used the video layer features in photoshop. One of the main features I used was the onion skin which allowed my to see the appearance of the previous frame while working on the frame after at the same time.
Morph animation

Similarly to the line boil experiment, I used the video layer features in photoshop to create morph animation.
Final Animation

For the design of the final animation, I put a lot of focus on connecting the imagery depicted within the animation, to the subject of the chosen audio file. I also included various animation styles and assets that I experimented with for my research such as motion design and line boil animation.
